Eat Fat - Avoid Vegetables And Fruits

Most articles on health assume we are all the same. This isn't true. We are as different on the inside as the outside. Yet we are told universally to eat lots of fruits and vegetables and avoid the dreaded fat.

Fat is blamed for everything. Heart disease. Cancer. Overweight. Rising petrol prices. You name it. Instead we should switch to carbohydrates - fruit, veg, grains etc.

Fat Is A Good Guy

There's a medically approved for certain children. Fat makes up 90% of the calories of this diet. I kid you not. And yet these children grow normally, are of normal weight and their cholesterol levels are only slightly higher than usual. What these children have is epilepsy. Their seizures are controlled by this diet.

The children might eat a meal consisting of chicken and carrots with butter and double cream. Not exactly your standard fare, but for the children and their families, it's what they require.

You're still not convinced are you? You think that's a special case. Surely we can make the general statement: fat is bad; fruits and vegetables are good?

It's not so simple. For some nutritionists the number one dietary deficiency is .....fat.

Saturated fat is often portrayed as the great enemy. The reality is that while it may not be the best type of fat to eat, humans are adapted to eat it. The real enemy are the fats that come from food processing. These foods give us far too much of the omega 6 and trans fats and far too little omega 3 fats from fish oils.

Vegetable Can Be Bad

A Glasgow university professor warns us that the fastest growing cancer in the UK could be caused by eating vegetables. Professor McColl and his colleagues at Glasgow University believe that nitrate fertilisers may be responsible for seeing the incidence of throat cancer treble over the last 2 decades.

The answer is not to buy organic. These too contain a lot of nitrate.

I could mention all the naturally occurring toxins, carcinogens and mutagens found in fruits and vegetables. But I won't.

At least not for this article.

I could also mention those people that are especially sensitive to carbs. They need to limit how much fruit and vegetables they eat because they effect their blood sugar levels. But we'll leave that alone as well.

I might even mention the many people who have a toxic reaction to certain foods. Even 'healthy' foods, like grapefruit, oranges, tomatoes, onions.

And there are those that are allergic to aspirin. The chemical salicylate which is found in aspirin is also found in high amounts in fruits and vegetables.

Am I seriously telling you to avoid fruits and vegetables and eat fatty foods instead? No, certainly not. For most people this is excellent advice. The point I'm making is that you are an individual. You have your own dietary requirements and needs. There is nobody on earth like you, so don't let anybody else tell you what to eat. Get to know your own body's needs. Listen to what it is trying to tell you.

Listen to your own body, not to the nutrition gurus.
